Improve Your Local Rankings This Holiday Season with These GBP Updates
Economic forecasters are predicting a return of higher consumer confidence heading into this holiday season, which means it’s time to get your online marketing program ready now.
We want to share with you some great ways to utilize the Google Business Profile (GBP) to improve your local rankings. GBP is all about helping customers find you and discover the important aspects of your brand.
Perhaps your store hours will be different for the holiday. You want them to reflect that in your GBP profile. The program will allow you to insert special hours, such as during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, etc. It even allows you to distinguish between “special hours” versus “more hours.” If you’re closing your store on certain days, you can indicate that as well.
Business Location Info
Although an elementary concern, you would overlook it at your peril. 84% of consumers say that they expect to find information about business addresses, phone numbers, and operational hours on a company’s web listing.
You can use the Google Product Editor to intricately market the items/services you’re selling. You can enter certain keyword options such as “Christmas sales bargains near me” that would help invigorate leads from web searches. When describing your products, let your customers know whether the item is in stock, how it will benefit them, the estimated shipping time, etc.
Update Your Images
In the age of Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram, we know how important pictures are for marketing. You could get five times as many leads on your product with good images as opposed to without. Take photos of both your physical store (if applicable) as well as the products you’re selling.
Messaging, Google Q&A, and Review Responses
People take fellow customer reviews very seriously. You can track this with Google Reviews and really gauge what people think about you. Google Q&A allows your local patrons to interact with questions, while the messaging component gives them a chance to speak with you directly. You can facilitate that with a “Contact Us Now” button on your GBP.
Create a Holiday FAQ
In addition to the Q&A, consider generating a Holiday FAQ. This streamlines some of the heavy messaging/questions that inevitably occur due to hectic holiday changes.
You can create Google posts that appear on the panel of Google Maps and Google Search. A lot of people search for businesses this way, and only about half of companies use the feature. Be sure to follow all of Google’s post guidelines. If done correctly, you should have an advertisement appear next to a map, indicating your physical location.
Clarify All Store Attributes
This is where you can mention your store’s policies for COVID-19 procedures. It’s also an opportunity to showcase business attributes. It shows you how to identify your business with 46 categories (i.e., car dealership, doctor, mailing service, locksmith) and 147 attributes (family-led, black-owned, veteran-led, etc.).
