Marketing in Oklahoma

Oklahoma PPC and SEO for OKC, Tulsa and Small Towns

Oklahoma is growing faster than many people realize. The population rose 4.1% between 2020 and 2025 to 4,123,288, with a net 107,244 people moving in from other states, and suburbs such as Edmond, Moore, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby and Jenks absorbed much of that growth. Oklahoma City (719,849) and Tulsa (416,209) are the two big search markets, and they compete more like separate regions than neighbors.

Small businesses employ 50.8% of Oklahoma workers, and living costs are low, with a median home value of $222,100. That means plenty of owner-operated contractors, dealers and restaurants competing for the same local searches. Weather is the biggest demand driver. Hail, tornadoes and severe spring storms create sudden spikes in roofing, restoration, auto glass and collision searches, and out-of-state storm crews push click prices up for weeks after a big event.

Oklahoma also writes its own marketing rules. The Telephone Solicitation Act of 2022 requires prior express written consent for automated sales calls and allows $500 per violation in private suits, roofing contractors must show their state registration number on ads, contracts and vehicles, and a comprehensive consumer privacy law takes effect January 1, 2027. Visitors spent $12.8 billion in 2025, which supports restaurants, lake resorts and casinos well beyond the two big metros.

Peak season

Mar to Jun (severe storm and hail season)

Roofing, restoration and auto body demand spikes after each spring hail event, and ad costs rise as storm crews arrive. Summer brings HVAC and lake tourism demand, and an early winter ice storm can trigger another round of tree, power and repair searches.

Things to know

What changes when you market in Oklahoma

Five patterns we plan campaigns around, each backed by a published figure.

4.1%

Oklahoma population growth, 2020 to 2025 [1]

Follow the suburban growth

Oklahoma gained population from 2020 to 2025, much of it in suburbs around OKC and Tulsa. Build service-area pages and ad groups for suburbs like Edmond, Norman, Broken Arrow and Owasso rather than bidding only on the big city names.

50.8%

Share of Oklahoma employees at small businesses, 2022 [2]

Half the workforce is in small business

Small businesses employ just over half of Oklahoma workers, so most local competitors are owner-run with strong community ties. Reviews, local photos and a complete Google Business Profile usually beat a bigger ad budget from an out-of-town competitor.

13.5%

Hispanic share of Oklahoma population, 2024 [1]

Spanish-language search is a real market

Oklahoma's Hispanic population is 13.5% of residents, and 8.4% of residents speak Spanish at home, with concentrations in OKC's south side and Tulsa's east side. Dealers, home service companies and law firms can win this audience with Spanish ad groups and a Spanish landing page.

$222,100

Oklahoma median home value, 2024 [1]

Affordable homes, steady home service demand

With a $222,100 median home value and 65.7% homeownership, many Oklahomans own homes that need regular storm, HVAC and plumbing work. Emergency service keywords, call tracking and fast lead response matter more here than polished brand campaigns.

$12.8B

Oklahoma visitor spending, 2025 [3]

Tourism dollars reach rural counties

Visitor spending supports 109,300 Oklahoma jobs, and lake and outdoor destinations in Bryan, Love and McCurtain counties draw travelers from Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond. Cabins, marinas, restaurants and attractions there should target Texas metros as well as Oklahoma.

How we tune each service for Oklahoma

Same team and tools everywhere. What changes is the calendar, the rules, and the searches people in Oklahoma actually type.

SEO

Edmond, Moore, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby and Jenks absorbed much of Oklahoma's 4.1% growth, so content targets those suburbs instead of ranking only for Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

SEO in Oklahoma →

Lake Texoma marinas and Broken Bow cabins draw weekend visitors from North Texas, so profiles in southeast Oklahoma need current hours, photos and booking links before summer and holiday weekends.

Regions

Oklahoma is several markets, not one

Oklahoma City Metro

Oklahoma City, Edmond, Norman, Moore, Midwest City

The state's largest market, with state government, energy, aviation, the University of Oklahoma in Norman and fast-growing suburbs.

How we adjust: Split campaigns by suburb and prepare storm-response ad groups that can be switched on within hours of a hail event.

Tulsa and Green Country

Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby, Jenks, Bartlesville, Muskogee

A diverse economy of aerospace, energy and health care, with affluent southern suburbs and lake country to the east.

How we adjust: Use separate Tulsa-area campaigns from OKC and target suburban zip codes where household incomes and home values run highest.

Southwest Oklahoma

Lawton, Fort Sill area

A military-influenced market around Fort Sill with frequent relocations and a strong demand for housing, vehicles and family services.

How we adjust: Speak to military families arriving on orders, with clear availability, pricing and fast scheduling.

North Central and Northwest Oklahoma

Enid, Stillwater, Ponca City, the Panhandle

Agriculture, energy and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, with long distances between towns.

How we adjust: Use wide-radius targeting and map pack optimization, and plan around the OSU academic calendar in Stillwater.

Southeast Oklahoma

Durant, Broken Bow, McCurtain, Bryan and Love counties

Lake Texoma, Broken Bow cabins and casino resorts make this a visitor-driven economy tied closely to North Texas.

How we adjust: Target Dallas-Fort Worth searchers planning weekend trips, and push budgets ahead of summer and holiday weekends.

Big metros vs. small towns

Oklahoma City and Tulsa together hold about 1.14 million people, roughly 28% of Oklahoma's 4.1 million residents in 2025, and their suburbs push the metro share higher. Those two areas carry the state's most competitive auctions, especially for roofing, injury law and auto, while small towns across the rest of the state are often won with a complete Google Business Profile, local reviews and modest search budgets.
